Ethics Test

This test only has one question, but it's a very
important one.

By giving an honest answer, you will discover where you
stand morally.

The test features an unlikely, completely fictional
situation in which you will have to make a decision.

Remember that your answer needs to be honest, yet
spontaneous.

Please scroll down slowly and give due consideration
to each line.

You are in Florida, Miami to be specific. There is
chaos all around you caused by a hurricane with
severe flooding.

This is a flood of biblical proportions.

You are a photojournalist working for a major
newspaper, and you're caught in the middle of
this epic disaster.

The situation is nearly hopeless. You're trying to
shoot career-making photos.

There are houses and people swirling around you,
some disappearing under the water.

Nature is unleashing all of its destructive fury.
Suddenly you see a man floundering in the water. He
is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken down with the
debris.

You move closer, somehow the man looks familiar. You
suddenly realize who it is.

It's Cristiano Ronaldo.

At the same time you notice that the raging waters
are about to pull him under.

You have two options--you can save the life of
Cristiano Ronaldo or you can shoot a dramatic
Pulitzer Prize winning photo, documenting the
death of one of the football world's most exiting player's.

So here's the question, and please give an honest
answer :

Would you select high contrast colour film,

or would you go with

the classic simplicity of black and white?

Black & White, hands down. Much more dramatic...

Ha, ha... pretty clever. No matter how honestly one tries to answer such moral dilemas, it is hard to know how you will react instinctively, and such events are more about instinct than knowledge or morals.

I’ve seen a couple similar ones before, poking fun at some classic moral dilemmas scenarios. Interestingly last night on the Lebanese NTV George Saliba was interviewing photographers who're covering the war there and the dilemma of “photograph or save” was a central topic of discussion. They all had stories where they had to confront these hard choices; most of them said they had once or more to stop snapping pictures and turn into rescue workers, carrying people in desperate need of help to ambulances or relative safety. But at least one of them said the priority should be always to the job, taking photographs. One
touching story. happened in Bint Jbeil. I couldn’t find a potentially Pulitzer award winning photo, but
this one is from the same episode; lucky they were there in a group, so somebody still managed to take some amazing pictures!

correction: George Salibi (and not Saliba)...

I think a photograph of a freshly saved Cristiano Ronaldo would still make a fair amount of money.

I'm with bobo, it has to be black & white.

I think I would rather taking out the film or the memory card then--> beating you up with the camera!
